Chicago Restaurant Week Chop Shop Review

The first weekend of Choose Chicago Restaurant Week was incredible. I have been to Chop Shop in Wicker Park for a few events and cocktails but never for bite to eat. I headed there during brunch hours on a Sunday to try their pre-fixe lunch menu. Another great thing about restaurant week is that it’s actually extended into 2 weeks because honestly, it’s kind of impossible to try every place within a week. For just $22, a 3-course meal is offered for lunch and at $44 a 3-course dinner could be yours. We gave you a preview of where to go a few weeks ago and now it’s time for a recap of Chop Shop.

A $22 three course lunch at Chop Shop was a great choice during restaurant week. To start, I had the chopped salad which was vibrant with the color and flavor of freshly cut meats and cheeses from the deli counter inside of Chop Shop.

The main course of my choice was the Hanger Steak, I almost went for the Butcher’s Burger but my server recommended to go with the steak if I was looking for something lighter. The steak was grilled to perfection and topped with chimichurri sauce with roasted garlic aioli on the side for dipping. The steak comes with a side of fries but I substituted those for the fluffy whipped potatoes with chives and butter because I wanted a more decadent taste with my steak.

For dessert, I chose the peanut butter cookie topped with vanilla ice cream and white chocolate chips and it was what dreams are made of.
The best news is the Chop Shop is continuing this restaurant week menu through February! Chop Shop also has an incredible concert venue in the restaurant and DC’s Goldlink will be there March 8th. Check them out at 2033 West North Avenue.
